Join the Parks, Recreation, & Civic Facilities and Public Works departments to discuss the future of Krug Park during the next Community Engagement Open House on Wednesday, September 13, from 4-7pm at the Remington Nature Center, located at 1502 McArthur Drive.

 

Come see how your feedback from the early engagement discussions, the online community survey, and the July Open House are guiding the next steps in the project. These open houses are an important milestone in the 8-month timeline where city staff and the criteria consultant team will facilitate discussions and listen to community input as we develop preliminary design concepts. Together, the purpose is to build upon shared ambitions, common goals, and collective values on the renovation of the park. From what we heard, the overwhelming response to our early outreach indicates the citizens of St. Joseph value Krug Park for its natural beauty, historic features, and resource as a community space for both celebration, play, and respite. 

 

Funding for the Krug Park renovations is provided through the half-cent parks sales tax approved by voters in August 2021. The Criteria Consultant team has been directed by the city of St. Joseph to lead community engagement, criteria development, and master planning for the renovation of the city’s largest green space. Primary areas of input are focused on projects identified in the Park Sales Tax which include the castle, the Children’s Circus, Picnic pavilions, the bowl, and overall park.
