Electronic Crimes Unit

The Electronic Crimes Unit was established in the spring of 2000 as the first unit of its kind in Northwest Missouri. The ECU specializes in analyzing electronic evidence from computers, mobile devices, and video surveillance systems.
The ECU has grown each year since its inception. Most forensic examination cases originate from the St. Joseph Police Department, though nearby agencies also submit cases for forensic support. Historical case types include serious offenses such as murder, robbery, theft, embezzlement, child pornography, harassment, and stalking. As technology evolves, so does the ECU.
